Tokn
Privacy Policy
Tokn backs up your tokens and progress so a reinstall doesn't lose them. No email, no ads, no analytics, and we never see which apps you use or what you do in them.
Who we are
Tokn is made by Aman Shafeek, an independent developer. Questions about this policy or your data: [support email].
What Tokn stores
To work, and to restore your progress after a reinstall, Tokn keeps:
- Your token balance, ledger, streak, activity history and settings.
- Your onboarding answers, including the goal you write ("your dream"), used in reminders.
- Minutes spent in the apps you chose to limit, counted per day, with opaque app references (never app names on iPhone).
- Focus sessions, reading, lessons and check-ins you log to earn tokens.
This lives on your device and is backed up to Google Firebase (servers in Mumbai, India), linked to a random account ID created on your phone. Only Tokn’s server code can change your balance; nobody else can read your backup.
Accounts (optional)
You can sign in with Apple or with an email and password so your progress moves to a new phone. Tokn then stores your name and email with your account, using Firebase Authentication. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email: Apple gives Tokn a private relay address instead. Your name is used only to greet you in the app. If you don’t sign in, your account stays anonymous, with no name, email or phone number.
Screen Time
On iPhone, Tokn uses Apple’s Screen Time frameworks (FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, ManagedSettings) to limit the apps you choose. Apple gives Tokn opaque tokens instead of app names, so Tokn cannot tell which apps you picked. Usage is reported to Tokn as minutes passed, never as content, messages, browsing or anything you do inside an app. Only those minutes are backed up, never which apps they were.
Purchases
Premium is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your card or Apple ID. To check whether you have Premium, Tokn uses RevenueCat, which receives your purchase receipts, a random app user ID created on your device, and basic device information (such as model, OS version and country) needed to validate purchases. RevenueCat’s privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled on your device. Their text, including your goal, is never sent to us or anyone else. You can turn each kind off in Settings.
What we don’t do
- No advertising, ad identifiers or tracking across apps and websites.
- No analytics or crash reporting services.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
- No phone number, and no name or email unless you choose to sign in.
Your choices and rights
Settings → Your data lets you export everything Tokn stores as a file, and delete all of it: Delete my data removes the copy on your phone and the backup on our servers, and your account; for Sign in with Apple, it also revokes Tokn’s access with Apple. Purchase records are kept by Apple and RevenueCat; contact us and we will ask RevenueCat to delete yours. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, CCPA or India’s DPDP Act), you have rights to access, correct, delete and port your data; email us to use them.
Children
Tokn is for people managing their own phone use and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If Tokn starts collecting anything new, such as sign-in to move between phones, we will update this policy and tell you in the app before it happens. The date at the top shows the latest version.
